75 Million Ways Your Resume Can Stand Out

Alright I exaggerate but, 1. You read this and 2. You have just taken a step towards making your resume stand out from the crowd. Making your resume stand out should be the goal of every job seeker. Every resume that leaves someone’s computer and flies through whatever medium to land on someone’s desktop should scream “Hire Me!” in large flashing neon letters. You cannot afford to be an also ran in this race, the goal should be to win.

Basic Rule #1 – No objective statement, the objective is to get a job, you know it and the person who has received the resume knows it. The majority of employers don’t care what you want ( a challenging position where I can be part of an effective and productive team) rather they are looking for what they want (an individual who will contribute to the bottom line of the organization, someone who whose addition to the team adds more than just the sum of the team members).

Create an opening statement or profile that explains who you are, what you do and the value you bring to the table. “A skilled and demonstrably successful salesperson with 10 years experience who can immediately contribute to the bottom line”.

Basic Rule #2 – Immediately following your opening paragraph provide a statement or three that demonstrates you understand the needs of the position and you capabilities.

In each of the statements below it demonstrates clearly that the individual is at the top of their game.

Sales Targets – Consistently achieved and excelled at meeting progressively larger sales targets with average individual sale value exceeding $1million.

Market Share – Grew market share by 35% over 4 years.

Make sure that you have analyzed the requirements of the organization and in the opening section of your resume you clearly demonstrate your value.

If you have been following our rules and guidance you will have been networking and identifying contacts in the organization. Use any contact to verify your assumptions as to the issues facing the business and use any insights you may gain to better position how you can best contribute to their success and growth going forwad.

Good hunting
