There’s a great post up on TechCrunch about which Venture Capital firms are the most networked and if that is an indication of success. It’s also got a great graphic showing the connections.
The conclusion is YES, the more networked the VC firm the more successful they are. BUT before you go and ‘friend’ everyone, it’s worth noting what they defined as ‘networked’ !
A venture firm’s network in the study was defined as being made up of all the other venture firms who co-invested with it in funding rounds.
That means there were others V.C. firms that also invested their money (skin in the game) into the venture, not just who knew whom.
Switching to the job searching world, as we’ve said before it’s not the size that matters, it’s the quality. or to align it more closely to the V.C. example who in your network is also actively helping you?
and before you ask, here’s the answer on how to get people to help you. (hint, help them first !)
Good hunting
